I Love You

Today I lost my best friend

A dear friend since my youth

A friend who was there to comfort me

That long ago day I broke my tooth

And now many long ago memories

Are drowning my eyes with tears

With my realizing how sad it is

Losing someone I held so dear.

When I was young growing old

Seemed millions of years away

I guess I didn't stop and realize

The clock continues ticking night and day.

Yes, today I lost my best friend

And now my life will never be the same

Because a special place in my heart

Will always be filled with pain.
