My daughter and grandchildren
Came to visit us not so long ago
Each word we spoke was followed by a smile
Making time pass fast that usually passed slow.

Tonight my wife and I are very lonely
Today my daughter and grandchildren had to go home
Tears formed in my eyes as I collected scattered toys
No need for them since our grandchildren are gone.

Even though our daughter and grandchildren have gone home
Our love for them will keep them close in our minds
My wife and I know one day they will come back
Because the love in our family is a very special kind.
