And God I Hope You Will

She promised she'd try not to leave me
Then in just one moment she was gone
Why was my world taken away so fast
Was it because I did something wrong?

I know nothing in life is guaranteed
But please God why did you take her away
Didn't you know how much it would hurt me
That my heart would die a little each day?

I wish you would've taken me instead of her
But I know that's selfish for me to say
Please God save me a place next to her
I'll ask you this each night when I pray.

And God I hope you will....
