I Wish I Could Have
Thanked Him
To rest a spell the other day
And saw a most unusual site
Trotting down the expressway.
An Amish gentleman in his buggy
Was a delightful sight to behold
He gave me a chance to see a glimpse
Of how it was in times of the old.
Eventually his buggy disappeared
But a picture of him remains in my mind
I wish I could have thanked him
For this moment to me was one of a kind.
Eventually I got back in my car
Heading for parts where Amish don't live
Appreciating these glimpses of the past
Thankful this Amish had them to give.
