Because I Am Human

At one time or another most of us find ourselves wishing
We would have done many things differently than we did
Even though we know one walk down life's highway is all we have
And wishing for a second walk is fruitless because it's forbidden.

Often I find myself wishing I lived on an uncharted island
Away from worries and frustrations I face daily in my life
But when reality replaces my wishes I find myself wondering
Would I be happier without my worries or everyday strife?

Could it be most of us are happy and don't realize it
Until tragedy takes someone or something we love away
And we realize what we lost meant more to us than our wishes
I won't wish anymore today, but I might some other day.

Because I am human...
